The application of Feverfew has been well documented over time. It is often grown in vegetable gardens to keep insects away, used to reduce fevers and inflammation and as an antioxidant. The recorded use of Feverfew on migraine headaches may be seen as far back as the 16th century in famous texts such as John Gerard’s Herball. Core Feverfew contains Spagyrically-processed Feverfew, which means that it can be easily assimilated in even the most compromised body. Many research studies illustrate the medicinal benefits of Feverfew. For example, studies have shown that abnormal platelet behavior has been implicated as a possible explanation for the development of migraines. Platelets release chemicals during a migraine attack which result in the constriction of blood vessels. Parthenolide, a sesquiterpine lactone contained in Feverfew, has been shown to prevent the painful symptoms of migraines and headaches. Now scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center have found that this component of Feverfew is effective against a type of human leukemia. Monica L. Guzman, PhD, and Craig T. Jordan, PhD, report that Feverfew extracts kill malignant stem cells like no other single therapy they have tested. Additionally, tanetin, a flavonol in Feverfew, has been shown to have high anti-inflammatory properties and, as a result, shows promising results with a number of inflammatory conditions including arthritis.
