Vintage original U.S. 22 x 28 in. (55.9 x 71.1 cm.) half-sheet poster, rolled, very good condition. The graphics feature 3 color images of Red Skelton as cab driver Augustus 'Red' Pirdy (including a nice close shot of Skelton with Gloria DeHaven) as well as a terrific caricature of him hanging out the window of his Yellow cab. Measuring 22 x 28 in., this vintage original half-sheet poster is rolled and in very good condition. There are chips on 3 of the 4 corners (the largest being on the lower left corner), signs of wear along all of the edges, a 2.5 in. crease on the lower right corner, two 2 in. vertical tears on the bottom edge which have been reinforced on the verso with a small piece of clear Scotch and brown tape and two 3/4 in. horizontal tears on the left border above the center which have been reinforced on the back with a 4 in. piece of brown tape. There are several small surface wrinkles in the center of the poster in the upper black band of Skelton's hat in the caricature of him which extend slightly into the white background to the right of his hat. The colors are extremely fresh and vibrant with no fading and the white background is a nice clean bright white. The poster displays very well and the main flaws are the signs of wear along all 4 edges. This poster features wonderful images and artwork of Skelton and benefits from being rolled and unfolded.
As the poster is rolled, it will be shipped in a sturdy tube to prevent damage during transit.
The film's plot: Pirdy is accident prone. He has been denied insurance from every company in town because he is always getting hit or hurt in some way. On the day that he meets the lovely Ellen of the Yellow Cab Co., he also meets the crooked lawyer named Creavy. Pirdy is an inventor and when Creavy learns about elastic-glass, his new invention, he makes plans to steal the process. With the help of another con man named Doksteader, and the boys, he will steal this million dollar invention no matter who gets hurt.
