SKU: P-NOSFERATU79-GER
Price: $250.00

Quantity:

Werner Herzog Filmproduktion (Germany); 1979; dir: Werner Herzog; cast: Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani, Bruno Ganz, Michael Gruskoff. Vintage original 23 x 33 in. (58.4 x 83.8 cm.) German poster, folded, multiple pinholes in upper corners, in the center of the upper quadrant and in the lower right corner, near fine condition. The artwork features a beautifully-rendered and colorful image of Count Dracula (Klaus Kinski) holding Jonathan Harker's wife, Lucy (Isabelle Adjani), in his large talon-like hands. The image of a sailing ship is seen in front of an ominous castle. The film's title is artfully designed with images of a stake and mallet and a bat flanking either side. Director Werner Herzog's German sound remake of F.W. Murnau's legendary silent horror film was shot in both German and English language versions and the poster offered here is from the more desirable German theatrical release. The first release German posters from this film had Werner Herzog's production company logo (Werner Herzog Filmproduktion) in the lower right corner of the poster. Afterwards, 20th Century-Fox obtained the distribution rights in Germany for this film and the poster offered here is from the Fox German distribution.

The 1922 version of NOSFERATU was the first screen version of Bram Stoker's 1897 novel DRACULA, although it was an unauthorized version and Stoker's widow successfully sued in court and all prints of the film and publicity materials were ordered to be destroyed.
