GOOD REFERENCES (1920)
SKU: P-GOODREFS-1S
First National; 1920; dir: Roy William Neill: cast: Constance Talmadge, Vincent Coleman, Ned Sparks, Nellie Parker Spaulding. Vintage original 27 x 41 in. (68.6 x 104.1 cm.) U.S. one-sheet poster, stone lithograph, linen-backed, near fine condition. Popular silent film comedienne Constance Talmadge stars in this silent film comedy romance as Mary Wayne, a stenographer who impersonates a secretary to an elderly socialite. This beautiful stone lithograph features a large image of Miss Talmadge as she chastises an older man (the caption at the top reads, "I'll fix you!") which is complimented by a jet black background. The film's title and credits are cleverly shown inside an envelope with a postage stamp in the upper right corner. This poster has had minor expert restoration at the center cross-folds and within very small areas of the black background in the upper right quadrant. The colors are extremely fresh and vibrant and the image of Miss Talmadge is beautifully rendered. Constance Talmadge was one of the most beloved comediennes of the Silent Era and was the sister to the dramatic film actress Norma Talmadge and Natalie Talmadge, who married silent film comedy legend Buster Keaton.
