Paramount Pictures; 1939; dir: Cecil B. DeMille; cast: Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McCrea, Akim Tamiroff, Robert Preston. Vintage original 27 x 41 in. (68.6 x 104.1 cm.) U.S. one-sheet poster, linen-backed, near fine condition. The legendary Cecil B. DeMille directed this western drama of the Union Pacific Railroad which stars Barbara Stanwyck and Joel McCrea. Prior to linen-backing, the poster had different-sized chips in the borders; a small section of wrinkling at the left border which extends 4 in. into the image; and a small area of paper loss at the center cross-fold, these minor defects were corrected. Portions of the left and right borders and a small portion of the right side of the upper border and the left side of the lower border were air-brushed (the printing in the lower border is all original). The restoration was done very well and the colors are bright with no fading. This is a beautiful vintage 1930's one-sheet from a film that boasts a renowned major director and a great cast. "Union Pacific" won the 1940 Academy Award for "Best Special Effects" and also won the 1939 "Golden Palm" award for director Cecil B. DeMille at the Cannes Film Festival.
