The image features a dramatic close shot from the film's climax as the young toreador, Juan Gallardo (Rudolph Valentino) lies dying after being gored by a bull during a bullfight. His wife Carmen (Lila Lee) sits beside her doomed husband. This still photograph was printed on double-weight stock no later than the 1940's and is in very fine condition with virtually no flaws. "Blood and Sand" is considered one of Valentino's most popular films and Nita Naldi's performance as a sophisticated Spanish seductress is terrific.
