U.S. small format program, near fine condition. The full-color cover depicts a wagon train carrying hordes of settlers westward as the setting sun illuminates their way. The film's title and cast list is depicted on a scroll-like piece of paper. This program opens to a full 9 x 6 in. (22.9 x 15.2 cm.) and features 8 pages of beautifully-rendered full-color drawings from the film (shooting buffalo, the great wagon trains fording a river, native American Indians attacking the wagon train and three behind-the-scenes production photographs). This vintage original program indicates that it was issued by the Majestic Theatre (Boston). It is in near fine condition with a light horizontal fold thorugh the center and fresh vibrant colors. Based upon the novel by Emerson Hough, "The Covered Wagon" holds a place of prominence in silent film history as the first true epic American western.
