Paramount Famous Lasky Corp.; 1927, dir: William A. Wellman; cast: Clara Bow, Charles "Buddy" Rogers, Richard Arlen, Gary Cooper, Jobyna Ralston, Henry B. Walthall. Vintage original 4.5 x 6 in. (11.4 x 15.2 cm.) U.S. herald which opens to 9 x 6 in. (22.9 x 15.2 cm.), fine condition. The cover features the same artwork which is featured on a 1928 release one-sheet. The film was so popular and enjoyed such a long time that the new Vitaphone process (consisting of music and sound effects tracks only) was revolutionizing the industry and Paramount astutely added the Vitaphone process to the film while still in its original general release. Consequently, beautiful new posters were printed and are not considered reissues but rather a second printing. The back cover indicates that the film was shown at the Capitol Theatre (Passaic, NJ) from Sun., Dec. 9 through Wed., Dec. 12, which confirms that this herald is from 1928. Measuring 4.5 x 6 in., it opens to 9 x 6 in. and features a shot of a multitude of bi-planes fighting above soldiers running on the ground below them. Also features are four vignettes featuring Clara Bow, Charles "Buddy" Rogers and Richard Arlen (Bow is featured in three of the four images). This vintage original herald is in fine condition with a very light horizontal fold through the center which does not affect the image quality and a 0.25 in. crease on the back cover at the upper right corner. There is a tiny white cirlce on the front cover below the "G" in "WINGS" within the pink background.
