SPOILERS, THE (1914)

Item: U.S. Three-Sheet Poster
SKU: P-SPOILERS-3S
Price: $6,000.00

Quantity:

Selig; 1914; dir: Colin Campbell: cast: William Farnum, Kathlyn Williams, Tom Santschi, Wheeler Oakman. Vintage original 41 x 81 in. (104.1 x 205.7 cm.) U.S. three-sheet poster, stone lithograph, linen-backed, near fine condition. Produced by Selig in 1914, this was the first of five film versions of the famous story of Alaskan life based upon the book by Rex Beach. The artwork depicts a dramatic scene as Roy Glenister (William Farnum), seated in a chair and writing a letter, is unaware that the Bronco Kid (Wheeler Oakman) has broken into his room and creeping up behind him with a gun pointed at him. The Bronco Kid is wearing a rain-drenched raincoat and cap and large jagged thunderbolts and torrential rain can be seen through the window. This beautiful stone lithograph has been professionally linen-backed and is in near fine condition. The poster was originally kraft-backed and we had it professionally linen-backed. There were numerous chips on the outer white borders and small areas of paper loss within the image, primarily at the crossfolds. These minor flaws were expertly corrected by Poster Mountain and the outer white borders have been air-brushed. The colors are extremely fresh and vibrant with no fading. The 1914 version of "The Spoilers" is considered one of the more important of the pre-1915 feature length films and the three-sheet offered here is one of only three known copies. Rare.
