"Friendship … ah, what a wonderful, warm, fuzzy feeling! True friendship, that is. Whoever said that man’s best friend is a dog, or that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, may have missed the boat on friendship! A 2006 survey said that the number and quality of friendships for the average American has been declining over the last twenty years. The study states that 25% of Americans have no close confidants, and that the average total number of confidants per person has dropped to two. Modern friendships seem to have lost the importance that they had long ago. Perhaps in our automated and emotionally isolated society we just no longer feel the need to rely on others for our survival. Survival these days often comes at the push of a button. Friendship is certainly much more than a matter of survival, though. So, how do we make and keep friends? Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” I invite you to take this journey (through the Friendship with God Guidebook) joyfully. After all, Life is too short to take it too seriously, and friendship is, and should be, fun! So let’s just enjoy this exploration together, shall we?" ~ Donna Corso, Guidebook Author, Assistant to Neale ------------------------------
Someone once said that man’s best friend is a dog.Well, dogs are wonderful
creatures, to be sure, but what if we turned that word around?Man’s best
friend is God!We may not think of God as being our ‘friend’.We have
human friends and animal friends, close friends and distant friends, friends
we ‘do lunch’ with and friends we see once a year.Yet friendship really
starts within us…and what is within us?God.It’s all there is.
The message of Friendship with God, by Neale Donald Walsch, is that
we all have a friendship with God, whether we know it or not.Once we
realize that, we begin a new journey, a life-changing journey where ‘fear
of God’ is unknown, and the wonder and excitement of life unfolds in
magnificent ways.
The purpose of this guidebook is to develop that friendship. Some of the exercises will take us deep into our past programming to uncover our ‘stuff’, and to help us release what no longer serves us.Many of the exercisesare meant to be fun…for what good is friendship if it isn’t fun?So we’ll be expressing our creativity through journaling, art, meditation, even song ‘n dance. We’ll traverse our inner landscape through visualizations. We’ll watch movies and YouTubes as well as sunsets and ladybugs. We’ll stretch our minds with a word game, take walks in nature, soak-in bubble baths, and bake cookies for a friend.Who could ask for more?Enjoy this precious journey…and remember to laugh as much as you can along the way!
