SURFING? The sport of Hawaiian Kings has become a part of today's pop culture. Surfing has changed dramatically over the last 50 years, but unlike any other sport in the world it has retained it's soul and expression as an actual art form. Wielding a surfboard as a paintbrush and the waves as a canvas, surfers paint a masterpiece of self expression, if only for a moment in time.

Sagemore Surf Gallery was started by owners Phil DeAngelo & Steve Miller . The gallery opened it's doors in 1997 and is located in Ocean City, NJ. Ocean City is a small barrier island off the southern coast of New Jersey just south of Atlantic City. We have always had a passion for art & beach culture. While surfing early one morning before opening the gallery we looked around the lineup and realized how many businessmen were catching a quick surf before work just like us. Growing up with a passion for the surf lifestyle had a huge impact on the professions we chose later in life. Now our sons & daughters were the current crop of young talent. We didn't take our children to baseball & football games, but to the beach for a surf & to action sports events.

With this vision in mind we decided to create an annual event that celebrated the lifestyle that is so much a part of our families lives. In 2001 we had our first ever annual "Art of Surfing Festival" . The first festival packed the gallery and spilled out onto the sidewalk for the largest show to date. The "ASF" featured art, music, film, and literature from surfers all over the USA. The annual show has quickly become the most successful and well attended event Sagemore has ever had. After 2 years it grew to the point that it could no longer be held at the gallery, but must be moved to the 4,500 plus square foot Music Pier. The Music Pier is located on the Ocean City boardwalk & extends out over the beach & ocean. Every August over 5,000 families converge on the Music Pier to take part in what has become the largest event of it's kind on the East Coast.

Sagemore Surf Gallery is now bringing the artwork that started it all to eBay. We will be carrying original one of a kind paintings, archival limited editions, high quality posters and uniquely inspired gift items. The artwork ranges from soft watercolor stylings, to bold acrylic splashes by the world?s most renowned surf artists. Each image embodies the artist?s own unique skill and style, but they all evoke the thrill of surfing a perfect swell, and they all capture the essence of the surfing lifestyle.
