It seems that racers and those in the high performance market have suffered for years with oil leaks around the valve cover breather assembly. This is a condition which is now amplified, when using any sort of muffler system. It appears that the use of mufflers are decreasing the amount of suction pulled through the evacuation tube in the headers. The results are additional crank case pressure, causing an increase in oil leaks around the grommets and in extreme cases can cause the breather assembly to blow out and onto the track.
I guess we're not the only ones concerned with safety. One of the major sanctioning organizations in our sport have banned the use of "Push-in valve cover breathers". In doing so they have minimized and/or completely eliminated oily track surfaces due to leakage from sportsman vehicles.
In addition to this potential safety hazard, the appearance of either large amounts of Duct Tape and or sheet metal brackets, says it was time for a FIX.
Our new patented breather assembly, comes complete with re-buildable breather housings and special AN hose fittings. The system is unique in a number of ways, it is constructed of billet aluminum with an integral threaded fitting, seal and nut, to replace the rubber grommets. The breather is manufactured as a two piece assembly, that not only has a replaceable filter element but contains its own check valve. This internal check valve eliminates the one normally located at the header assembly. By making this check valve part of the breather assembly, you eliminate the chance for contamination and freeze-up as with with the existing valve, because it's now located up in the valve cover, where it's self lubricated and away from the heat and moisture.
It fits all valve covers with a 1-1/4" hole. The system includes separate AN fittings for adapting to the header evacuation tube.
