A beautiful, apparently never read book of this children's classic. First edition with coding 10-5 I-U on the verso of the title page. The book is bright and crisp, rare thus. The original thin paper  dust jacket is also present with tiny 1/2 inch closed tears near the top and bottom edges where the spine and front jacket panel meet. They have been invisibly repaired by a skillful paper conservationist. Only the slightest hint of spine darkening and most minute bit of chipping at the top of the jacket spine panel. The book is not price-clipped and has the $2.00 price in the upper right corner of the front jacket flap.

A lovely copy of a true children's classic book and E. B. White’s first children’s book. Rare to find in this condition in the fragile first state dust jacket, Harper and Brothers is stated at bottom of front panel of the dust jacket.
