A simply incredible and totally superior French micro weaving (microweaving, micro-weaving) that has to be seen through a magnifier to be be believed! This is from the 19th Century Grand Tour era in Europe and was done with different types of threads and silk to give this extraordinarily sophisticated appearance that shows up in different shades and tones. There is NO painting on the weaving. What shadows and tones that are seen are totally done by the skilled weaving technique.

The piece including the frame measures 12.5" x 11.5" and the weaving itself measures 7" x 5.25" to the closest visible measurement. There is a weaved title under the image "Les Rameaux" and the matting looks fairly old, perhaps the original matting that came with the piece. There are a few dirt inclusions under the glass resting on the mat, as shown, mainly near the corners. The reverse of the piece has a label "H. Prud'Homme" and is shown in the photos.

This work of art is in beautiful condition, and the photographs do NOT do it justice, even though I tried to get some close-ups, they are a bit out of focus.
