1st AVON Edition of THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES
Ray Bradbury
Issued in 1997 this book was the precursor to the Morrow editions, and has been
signed and dated by Ray Bradbury
Signed and dated in the month of March 1997 (one month after the book's issue in February of 1997) and year of the book's publication by the great author Ray Bradbury on the title page as shown. This AVON BOOKS edition was one of the five titles issued in the similar format and size in the 1990's. They went through several printings then were issued finally under the Morrow imprint, and then later with the Morrow imprint with new dust jacket designs, which you can obtain presently (although some of these newer editions have started to be reprinted, but still using the newer dust jacket designs). The five titles were: The October Country, The Illustrated Man, The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes and Dandelion Wine. Each one of these books is a classic work, and that is why Avon Books decided to publish these titles. Further, each of these titles has a new introduction or afterward specially written for these books, including this one. With this book THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES, the dates have been updated to change with the times, begins in 2030.
This book was issued in 1997, and is a first printing starting with the number "1" and is in mint condition.
I personally presented this book to Ray Bradbury for his signature/date in Lost Angeles, CA.
I will provide a Letter of Assurance, signed by myself, for the authenticity of the signature/date.

NOW HEAR THIS...!!! The Phantom Bookshop is no Hunchback. It is, rather, the equivalent of Dracula saying "I bid you Velcome," or The Mummy going for a 'little walk." Or Baron von Frankenstein shouting, "It's alive!" Or King Kong falling off The Empire State Building and landing squarely, happily on us! Roll 'em all together and you got The Phantom Bookshop! Do you read me?-- RAY BRADBURY, 1995 |
