Sorry, this fine book has been sold.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

by L. Frank Baum, pictures by W. W. Denslow

Published in 1900 by George Hill Company.

This book is in very nice condition, with a wonderful interior (no wear on the corners of the pages, no soiling), please see the photos.

This book has the nicest interior I have seen in any Wonderful Wizard of Oz first edition book, especially in the first issue state.

The covers are clean, as shown.

The book has been re-cased and has a "C" issue spine re back-where the publisher's name is stamped in red with the "C" of "Co." encircling the "o" in serifed type.

All 261 pages are present. The text points are, on Page 2 the publisher's advertisements in enclosed in a box, page 14 has "low wail on..." and page 81 has the word "peices" . Page 227 begins with "While Tin Woodman" and colophon at the end of the book has eleven lines. Pictorial self-end papers. The pages facing the paste-down end papers are blank. There is a 1901 Christmas inscription on the front free end paper. Beneath that there is a 1929 one line pencil notation that the book was read .

There are 24 color plates by W. W. Denslow, tipped-in inserts. The title plate has a rubber copyright stamp on the verso. The two key plates show the man in the moon with two dark dots on it and other plate with the crane has red-shading on the horizon, thus indicating first issue plates. The plates opposite pages 44 and 80 have a tiny amount of edge wear. These are not the two key first issue plates. Each color plate in this book is guaranteed to be 100% authentic.

Indeed, a superior copy.

Arguably the most famous children's book ever written.
