The Time Machine
H. G. Wells
UK first edition, first printing
London, William Heinemann, 1895. First edition, first issue. A very good copy in the publishers first issue binding of oatmeal colored cloth with purple lettering on spine and front board showing the winged Sphynx. Rear board with circular device in bottom left corner. Page edges are untrimmed. Publisher's 16 pages of advertisements at rear starting with "The Manxman."
Some darking of spine and soiling to binding and some light foxing to endpapers as usually found in this book. A very high spot in the world of science fiction books and was H. G. Wells first novel and considered by many people to be his best novel as the time traveler travels to 802,701 AD. The novel although published in 1895 still holds up to literary scrutiny in 2007.
