Book Description: NY Brentanos 1926. Fine copy in a very good dust jacket. This copy is unique. It has an envelope addressed to Valentine Newmark (this was his copy) in Masefield's hand pasted to front fixed endpaper. In it is a letter on Boars Hill stationary, with reference to "The Witch"-[it] has little to do with me; it ought not to called my version." Above that a phot of Masefield is psted in the book. On the front free fly ar the signature of the cast of the play (16 members); on the 1/2 title are four more signatures. On the photo-frontis plate of Alice Brady and Hugh Huntley (the principles) are their signatures under their photos as characters in their roles. On the verso of the title pages is a clipped newspaper photo of Masefield and Esme Church. After the Introduction by Hubert Osbourne, he has signed his name. On the rear fly is large attractive sepia newsclipping of Alice Brady. Included, finally, are two students' half-price tickets for "The Witch" shich was shaown at the Greenwich Village Theatre in 1926. A few marginal small pencil notations in the book. Illustrated by Photoplay frontisplate. 1st Edition.
