Ben-Hur
Lew Wallace
Facsimile dust jacket (no book comes with this item) for the General Lew Wallace Memorial edition book. The book itself was published by Harper & Brothers out of New York about 1908 or 1909 but had issued with it the dust jacket by Grosset & Dunlap.
The book itself is pea-green in color and has a diamond design on the front cover with "Ben Hur" inside a box. Around this there are stylized trees. The front endpaper of the book has the three wise men and the star of Bethleham, the rear endpapers has Christ healing the mother and sister of Ben-Hur. I mention this, in case you have the book and wonder what kind of jacket it had. The book most likely had different jackets on it as well before the Memorial Jacket was issued. The jacket is a colorful wrap-around jacket of the chariot race.
Special paper, archival ink, enclosed in a removable Mylar jacket protector and ready to put onto your book. Restored by John Anthony Miller, artist. Signed by the artist on a small label stating that this is a facsimile edition which attached to the verso of the jacket.
