The Book of The Hamburgs-A Brief Treatise on Chickens Upon the Mating, Rearing and Management of the Different Varieties of Hamburgs.
FIRST EDITION THUS*
and a book of sheer joy to know you have L. Frank Baum's first book!!!!
by L. Frank Baum
Baum's first book.
OK, Go find one of these out there in the original publication date of 1886 with the original illustrations. Good luck, and how much money do you have to spend IF you can locate one of these from a person who wants to sell it. This is the FIRST issue facsimile edition, in hardback---therefore in professional book seller lingo- it is known as a *"first edition thus"- a collectible entity of a rarity. There was a paperback edition done, I don't know how many paperback editions were done. Who cares? BUT there were NO hardback editions ever published, until this one came out in 1991-it also has a pictorial paste on label on the cover and gold stamped spine. It was not issued with a dust jacket when published. So there you have it, some valuable bookselling information that should entice you to buy this book. My guess is that a lot of these hardback copies were bought by institutions and library stamped to death.
Published in a low number some years ago in 1991. I was told about 300 copies back then by the publisher. I bought a few copies back then, because I knew it was a winner, and would most defininitely be a collector's item. It is..
From the author of The Wizard of Oz, The Marvelous Land of Oz, Ozma of Oz, etc.
This is a a Very fine copy. This is the first hardback edition, as new.
A true collectible for the Baum and Wizard of Oz enthusiastic
A collectible book because of the nice condition and would be a valuable addition to any nice Ozian collection.
