THEFT
by Jack London
Here we have a premium condition rarity by the great author, Jack London. This is a red variant copy of his scarcest play,
THEFT (
Scorn of Women, although printed in a lower number).
This particular copy was in the famed Willard Morse collection with his famous bookplate and catalog information in the rear fixed endpaper of the book.
The book is like new, printed in 1910. The book has a custom cloth clamshell box for it.
The photographs speak for themselves. When Russ Kingman (the great Jack London authority) was alive, and I had this book (for at least 15 years or so), I asked him about it. He said probably no more than 50 copies of these variant types of
THEFT were printed. I have had a few copies in my career, in different colors, but none this fine. We will not know about numbers, as far we know there are no records for the 1910 printing, but very few if any copies are in better condition as this one is. I probably won't be offering it again, I just have to raise some cash this month due to a sick cat.
