John Anthony Miller Etching with Aquatint
GOD BLESS TINY TIM
miniature etching, with aquatint, framed.
A Charles Dickens theme.....Tiny Tim.
I did not do many aquatints. They are difficult, not for me, but for many they are. Goya did lots of them in his etchings.
Those of you who collect my work know this. I decided to offer a few of miniature art pieces on eBay. Here's a chance to pick up a few. Most if not all of this work was done in the 1980's. My work is in the Smithsonian Institution (probably in some basement), in the collection somewhere of Maurice Sendak (four pieces), was in Johnny Cash's log cabin before it burned down, sold in the Art Institute of Chicago once, sold in the Dallas World Trade Center once, where a lady of the night ended up with one...argh. No, I was not with her....it was going up an elevator. The Chicago Science and Industry Museum, and in other celebrity types, regular people and bums on the street. Ray Bradbury a few months ago called me "a great artist who should get off my **** and do more art." Something to be said about that.
I will be getting gearing up again shortly, my talents have never been better and I have lots more to say about life and art, and....here is the thing...I will probably NEVER do any more miniature etchings, after I get my upsided house modificatin done soon which has wreeked havoc on my creativity for about two years. So, there you have it!
This is a nice imprint from my collectin, number 56/100, from an edition of 100 prints. Originally this print was offered in the 1980's by the famed company Reminiscence in Miniature who was, at the time arguably, the number one miniature company in the world offering quality miniature furniture and my artwork. A few pieces like this I framed up and some went into art galleries. This is one of those prints from such a gallery that went out of business.
I have numbered, titles an signed it as shown back in 1981. There was no photographic reduction in anyway in the making of this image. The original was done on copper plate and hand-printed by myself, pulled from my etching press.
This little piece measures 2 inches by 1-1/2 inches. The overall size including the gold frame is 3-1/2 inches by 4 inches. If you look closely (and this photo really does not show the detail as well as it should, as I was photographing it through glass) you can see the details. You can visit www.johnanthonymiller.com to view the details in finer detail (plus some other works) if you wish.
Thanks, John Anthony Miller, artist. Ventura, CA
