DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON Facsimile dust jacket for the first edition book by Ernest Hemingway A truly great book on bullfighting, and my personal favorite of all Ernest Hemingway book. Probably the best book written on the subject, for sure by an American, in my opinion. Others will have their opinions on this controversial activity.
Facsimile dust jacket for the 1932 Scribner's first edition. No book is included, only the beautiful dust jacket with the wonderful Roberto Domingo cover design.
This large facsimile dust jacket will also fit some of the later editions, which are in black cloth with the spine printed in gold and Ernest Hemingway's name stamped on gold on the front. If your book measured 9-3/8" in height it should fit it. This is a large dust jacket for a large heavy book.
The original dust jacket was digitally scanned restored from an original by artist John Anthony Miller (johnanthonymiller.com) and has been trimmed, enclosed in a Mylar jacket protector. It has been printed with archival inks on 120GSM paper. The dark yellow area shown on the cover and spine of this small photo has the very tiny red dot screening overlaying the pale yellowish colored paper, found in the original book jacket.
The jacket has "Facsimile Dust Jacket" tastefully printed on the rear jacket flap and has the monogram of "JAM" at the bottom of the rear jacket flap.
Additionally, this dust jacket has a label affixed to the VERSO of the jacket, stating that it is a facsimile dust jacket and signed by John Anthony Miller.
