Alice Going Down The Rabbit Hole. An original hand-pulled etching in miniature by John Anthony Miller. From the book Alice in Wonderland.
A small etching which was printed using the etching press (a time-honored hundreds of years old process) of Alice in Wonderland going down the rabbit hole..
It was hand-printed off the copper plate some time ago and was a limited edtion, printed in sepia ink. This is from my collection and black in.
There was no photographic reduction here, the piece was etched on copperplate
and then hand-printed and signed, titled and states Artist's Proof as shown. These miniature works of art
were marketed by the finest maker of miniature furniture and accessories in the world. Miller mainly did his miniature work in the late 70's to the mid-80's.
His work is prized and he done commissions for The Chicago Art Institute (7 replications of miniature work found in the Thorne Rooms collection, and a piece for The Chicago Science and Industry Museum (The Colleen Moore Doll House). His work is also held by celebrities and is in thousands of doll houses.
Here are the dimensions" Overall the frame dimensions are: approximately 4" x 5". The artwork image measures 1-1/2" x 1" -
It is signed in pencil along the lower edged of the image by the artist: Artist's proof "Down The Rabbit Hole" John Anthony Miller, Imp.
I am showing a greatly enlarged photo of John Anthony Miller's "Down The Rabbit hole" so you can get and idea of the fine detail. Also the reverse side of the framed piece. Keep in mind that I was taking a photo through raised glass.
The piece is also double matted in acid free board. The third photo shows the reverse of the piece.
