FLAME OF BARBARY COAST
SANTA FE STAMPEDE
Description: Released in celebration of John Wayne's 100th birthday on May 26th, 2007, this Double Feature DVD contains two classic John Wayne films: FLAME OF BARBARY COAST - Duke portrays a good-hearted rancher who travels to San Fran in order to collect on a debt owed to him by a slick casino owner. While there, he meets Flaxen and falls in love with her, but there's one problem: she's Tito's fiance! When Duke loses his hard-earned bankroll at the casino, he's forced to leave town, but when he returns to San Francisco, it seems as though his luck has radically changed! He almost cleans out Tito's casino and builds one across the street, hiring Flaxen to star in his floor show. Everything is going well until the great San Francisco earthquake forces them all to regroup and rebuild. Original Theatrical Release 1945; SANTA FE STAMPEDE - The Three Mesquiteers must deal with a crooked mayor and his ruthless henchmen. This film is from the early "B Western" days of the Duke, where he learned so many valuable lessons that would serve him well in later years. Watch a legend in the making, as many of the characteristics that John Wayne would come to be known for are still in development. Original Theatrical Release 1938.
