Ancient Peru Unearthed
SKU: 9468

In northern Peru, before the Incas, there thrived a dynamic and creative culture, the Sicán. The middle Sicán period, running from approximately 900 to 1100 C.E., was particularly noteworthy. The Sicánof this period traded extensively, constructed monumental truncated pyramids, irrigated vast tracts of land and produced exquisite gold ceremonial objects. This book documents the first scientific excavation of two elite Sicán tombs at Huaca Loro, conducted by Dr. Izumi Shimada.
