These vessels, originally crafted of stone or ceramic, were used to store the viscera of a mummy. The four figures represented the “four sons of Horus”, each one assigned to look after a different organ. The human headed, Imsety, garded the liver, the jackal headed, Duamatef, conserved the stomach, the falcon headed, Qebsennuef, watched over the intestines and the baboon headed, Hapi, kept the lungs. All jars are created from hand-crafted molds and are packed in a hieroglyphic box, which includes a provenance card.
