8/1/08 Word from the wholesaler as well as Wotc site is that KotOR has indeed been pushed back to the 19th. Therefore I am likely to go ahead and start listing the private collection stuff I have built up but not listed because I didn't want to get overwelmed on release week. I will be starting with the D&D private collection stuff then moving on to Star Wars. The SW used stuff will take a lot longer to get up though as I will have to make ads for each piece indvidually (as opposed to D&D ones which for the most part are done). Also I will be ordering a good bit of AtG, DoD and DDR next week so expect to see restocks of those about a week from Monday (around the 11th).
Pre orders for KotOR are about to go up. Please read all the following before pre ordering.
Unfortunately the cart system is different from Ebay’s buy it now and this has been the main source of issue with presales and why we haven’t done them in the past on the PROSTORE (except for sets). It is important to understand that adding an item to your cart does NOT guarantee it will be your until AFTER you complete and pay through the checkout process. In past presales on ebay I have slowly, overtime released fast movers a few at a time to prevent other resellers from grabbing up all the good ones and to give as many different people a shot at the hot ones as possible. If I did it this way on the PROSTORE more times than not when you went to checkout many items would not be there. So, ALL presales are going up at the same time. Prices have begun to settle some (though still may fluctuate) so I doubt any one person will buy all of any particular item but it’s still possible. When a quantity reaches zero that’s it, no more until I do a restock which will likely be 1-3 weeks after the release. Also see our policy page for info on presale ship times and such. It can take up to a week after release before your item(s) are shipped.
SOME LEASONS LEARNED FROM AGAINST THE GIANTS PROSTORE PREORDERS.....
1) While we still ship in general order of payment received it's much more difficult than when we sold presales on ebay for a number of reasons. It's more accurate to say we ship in order of payment received combined with how far along we are opening. This threw us more than anything on AtG and while the overwelming majority of orders got out quickly (within a week of release) there were a little less than a dozen that took extra long to fill even though they were one of the first preorders taken. Here is an example of the main issue (but not the only one). If I have 100 of an item to presale (with safty margins built in to make sure I can cover everything presold) and the very first order placed buys all 100 then, even though they are the first order, they will be way down the list of shipping since we have to open and sort our entire order which can take up to a week. By the time we are done with the first 10 cases we can start filling other orders and will do so, so that the other 200 pending preoders will not have to wait on the first person who ordered and just happned to clean us out of 1 really hot uncommon.
2) We have always and will continue to combine multi orders when we catch them. HOWEVER, it's much harder to catch than before for a couple of reasons and again, while we got most, we missed more than when we were preselling on ebay only. One thing you can do as a customer is make sure you sign in when you order. This really, really helps us spot multi orders to combine them. As always the case, we don't promise combining orders and if we fail too your expected to pay the shipping as it applies to any order.
3) Prices will be VERY VOLITILE in the begining. Once you confirm your order we expect you to pay that amount. Even if some of the items drop large amounts the original amount still applies once the order is confirmed. Because this is not ebay we had more non payers than normal who just "locked in" items incase they went up and didn't pay when they went down. I set my prices by a cost averaging system on what's selling and what's not so pulling this stunt is really, really annoying and will lead me to only having even HIGHER starting prices until prices settle. From now on, ANYONE who confirms a preorder and then does not pay will be banned from presale items (their pending payment orders will simply be cancled as they come in if they have even 1 presale item) and repeate offenders will simply be banned from the site.
