This is one of the better coffees, regular or decaf, I've ever drank. A very smooth decaf. The MC decaffeinating method helps preserve the complex nuances that are the hall mark of Guatemalan coffees. You'll taste smoke, spice, flowers, chocolate, combined with a moderate acidity and medium body (rarely seen in a decaf coffee).
This coffee is first shipped to Hamburg, Germany for decaffeination. The process exceeds European Union standards for purity and safety. The process insures that virtually all chemical residue used in the process is removed. Since methylene chloride (MC) is a volatile chemical, totally evaporating at about 160 degrees, any remaining MC is burned off in the roasting and brewing process. One study says "there is more MC in the ambient air of a large city than in a cup of decaf coffee." Chosen as our Premier decaf because the MC method preserves flavor and body better than other decaffeinating methods.
Roast to Full City, about 20 seconds into the second crack, and you can't tell it from regular coffee.
